As we all know we have been quarantine for more than 24 months this global pandemic that cause sudden change of our lives from millions of people. The end is not yet in sight. For survivors of gender-based violence locked down in their homes with an abuser, the COVID-19 pandemic is only one of the compounding crises that threaten their physical and mental health.
According to Philippine Commision on Women even before this global health crisis, violence against women (VAW) was plaguing 1 out of every 4 Filipinas 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, one in four Filipino women age 15-49 has experienced physical, emotional or sexual violence by their husband or partner. It is very alarming.
In regards to this, Since 2004, with the Avon Foundation for Women, they’ve been continuously contributed more than US$80 million globally to support awareness, education and the development and implementation of prevention and direct service programmes. But Gender Based Violence still more to do. Together, we must speak out for survivors, because silence hurts.
Together we support Avon’s Advocacy by raising awareness of gender-based violence, so that all associates have an awareness of what gender-based violence is and where to seek support. As a simple Filipino Citizen we can support this campaign by purchasing Avon’s online shop fundraising items featuring Avon’s all- Filipina Artist lineup or simply by spreading the word. It really means a lot specially to support our dear Filipino survivors that we are all in this together and they are not alone.
